My Experience at Kleinfeld Bridal
It was nothing like the tv show unfortunately…
other than having that familiar feeling. Of recognizing the doors and the large trees in the front. It was extremely intimidating from the get-go. Every single woman there was dressed to the nines, with a fresh blow out and a fresh face of makeup. I was clean faced because I am all about the au naturale especially when you are getting in and out of dresses. I checked in and I was given the option of water, the bathroom or to wait on the Kleinfeld couches. I continued to people watch, and noticed that it was such a scene - so and so needed to say hi to Randy or to Ronnie (the co-owner). And I attentively watched as the “VIPs” were taken to the back and around lines - which btw it was packed on a Tuesday @4:30PM so I’d recommend scheduling a morning appointment.
Then my appointment began…
We walked to my room and chatted about my wedding which yes - I’m having two: One for the parents at the church, and one for the boo & I at the Bel Air Bay Club. I opened up my handy dandy google drive and I showed the consultant this dress: The Dennison ($1350-$1850). I was kind of loving this dress, but since I was so close up to the mirror, I just wasn’t able to get that wow factor from this angle:
I mean look at how close the pedestal is to the mirror… no one is going to look flattering at this angle
I expected to honestly go outside to where the lighting is beautiful and the mirrors are at a normal distance from the dress so you can get a full vision, BUT NOPE. Stayed in my jail cell.
Continuing on…
I then tried on the Melia from Nouvelle Amsale ($2,495). I was actually liking it a bit more, but wasn’t sure how this would fly in a church… and not any church, a CATHOLIC church.
PSA: Bring a phone charger:
This is the point where I see my phone is at 1% 🙀. So I ask if there was a charger for me to plug into so I could keep on taking pictures. To my surprise, the consultant responds that her charger is broken, and THATS IT. I expected to find one charger in the biggest wedding dress shop in New York. Talk about customer service and a great experience for dress shopping.
Dress option #3:
I then tried on the Dakota by Maggie Sottero ($1948-$2448). I wish the dress was more fitted to me so I could envision it better, but I felt like it was a bit of the dress not being clipped properly.
I think a similar dress that would have been a better fit for me would have been from the Love by Pnina Tornai collection ($3,600) - because it’s less lace (which I felt was overpowering the above dress) and more “wintery” with a sequin “Great Gatsby” feel:
Last but most definitely not least, I tried a Randy dress 🥰:
And her name is Antonella. This seems to be a newer dress because I couldn’t initially find it on the Kleinfeld site… and of course no one wrote this one down for me anywhere… so I had to hunt it down.
This was definitely my favorite by far because of the classic/glam look of the dress and the neckline just worked for me and my 33.5D self.
If I were to go back to Kleinfeld…
I would definitely want to try on the Ava by Randy ($2,500) because it has the neckline and straps I have liked in the past. It is just a bit difficult to tell what the dress would look like since the website only shows a black and white photo, but if you head over to Randy’s site, you can see it in a video here.
Looking back, the #1 lesson
I hope to bestow when it comes to Kleinfeld is that you need to do your research and create an account previous to coming in. If you see a dress you like online make sure to ❤️ it, so it will populate under your account like this:
That way you don’t walk away from your appointment feeling like you missed out on dresses.
However, from the feel of my appointment, if your budget isn’t $5,000 or more you are limited in your options and in the service you receive. Just didn’t feel like the special moment I anticipated 😞
Tata for now,
the marvelous miss marriage 😘
