Letβs Talk About Postpartum π©²
Letβs start with the fact that everyone may have a very different experience because let me tell ya, I was not prepared AT ALL for what went down for me. I was very very paranoid about getting UTIs because your girl has unfortunately had A LOT of them -weβre talking two UTIs sneakily turning into kidney infections π₯΅. So anywho my lovely husband had the genius idea of getting a Toto, so that I wouldnβt need all sorts of contraptions for postpartum such as the Frida Peri bottle and it just felt more hygienic in general. This concept was genius! What wasnβt genius is that I psyched myself out and probably overdid it on the Toto pre-delivery and probably washed out too much of the healthy bacteria that was meant to be there.
Fast forward to postpartum and I could not believe how UNBEARABLY itchy I was down there- the βI could not sleepβ kind of itchy. But of course I do not itch because of the 1st degree tear- seemed unwise LOL. Advocate for yourself, because after messaging my dr and testing for all the usual suspects with no avail (yeast infection etc)β¦ I made an appointment to go back in PRONTOππ»ββοΈ. Low and behold, I had something called BV (bacterial vaginosis) which kills me, because it was only being made worse by all of the moisture down there from the ice packs and the tucks pads and the healing sprays! π¬π¬π¬
So anyways just wanted to share some of the things that helped me make it through those early days because the tucks were not for me! π π»ββοΈ
If you can afford it, this is all the spa youβll need for down there postpartum and you can toss those peri bottles lol!
Speaking of a really cute bathroom π- this ottoman is as cute as itβs going to get for those really scary postpartum movements π© that I honestly didnβt really feel were really that scary. There were some fun prolapse moments LOL - so the ottoman definitely helps to not overdo it.
3. FridaMom Postpartum Underwear
I am going to be honest, I was the kind of girl where I just figured the hospital would give me everything (which they did π) but man these underwear were just by far superior and I would 1000% recommend these for a little upgrade
4. Nyssa Fourth Trimester Pads Trio
Bless my friend Hannah for getting these for me for my baby shower. I literally could cry with how nice it was to get a little gift for mom and boy did these come in handy! These were hands down my go to when all of the hospital supply ones ran out and were great as the bleeding was slowing too (started using the regulars)!
6. Lansinoh Hot & Cold Therapy Packs
Now THESE. Were a game changer to help me literally survive on those extremely itchy nights, where I just needed some numbing down there but couldnβt use any more moisture because I now know it was only making it worse. They are reusable and come with disposable sleeves so you could quickly transition from one to the next during trying times! I would highly recommend.
7. Baskets for all of the postpartum things (pads, spray, ice packs, underwear, etc.)
I found it SUPER useful to just have a little basket that would sit on the toilet with everything you could possibly need - just makes life a little easier on the the things you can prepare for LOL. Here are some options below:
My husband actually uses this for some of his clothes in the closet but it would be very chic for all things postpartum too
Bright room Tapered Woven Basket with Liner
I feel like the small or medium size would work well
So this is actually what I current use as my tampon pad box, and its just nice to keep things handy here even currently
Really hoping this was helpful along with eating a bunch of sushi! Happy healing everyone! π
